Montauk NY

The charming village of Montauk sits at the eastern most point in Long island. From its’ famed lighthouse you can see Block Island and all the way to Connecticut. The little town of Montauk boasts world class fishing and the best surfing on the east coast. While frequently referred to as “the End” it’s more appropriately known by locals as “The Beginning”.

To be in Montauk is to have water all around, from the Atlantic Ocean to Block Island Sound to Gardiners Bay. Add in Lake Montauk, Fort Pond and Fort Pond Bay and you have a water-sports paradise. Surfers, boaters and anglers all make their way to Montauk. You can kayak, paddle, surf, check out the awesome windsurfing or kiteboarding in Napeague Harbor or just sit back, relax and take it all in.

With all this water you know the seafood is the freshest and best. This sleepy little fishing village is home to the biggest recreational and commercial fishing fleet in NY State.

Montauk, the quieter Hampton hamlet, has everything; easy access to the Hamptons and all its attractions as well as world class fishing, surfing, fantastic hiking and biking trails and gorgeous beaches. All of this and under 100 miles to New York City.

Stop at a clam shack at the side of the road or eat in one of its many fabulous restaurants, one thing is for sure, there is no shortage dining options.

With spectacular sunrises and sunsets and stunning seascapes, Montauk continues to captivate and inspire artists from the Rolling Stones and Billy Joel to Andy Warhol. “The End” continues to be the premiere site for photography shoots and projects. The acclaimed photographer Michael Dweck pays homage to Montauk and its surf culture in his aptly titled book “The End”.

So what are you waiting for, take a bus, train, fly or just drive across the stretch and discover this idyllic Hamptons paradise for yourself.
